Animal Cruelty Iams
In the fight to stop animal cruelty, Iams sponsors the annual Iams Home 4 the Holidays adoption campaign. The Helen Woodward Animal Center started this campaign in 1999 with just 14 animal shelters in San Diego County. With Iams' help, the campaign has grown to more than 2,000 animal shelters and has placed over one million animals with loving families.
More families bring pets into their homes during the holidays than at any other time of the year, and the Iams Home 4 the Holidays program encourages families to adopt from their local shelter rather than to buy from a pet store or breeder. People around the world have embraced this unique adoption campaign to help their local shelters in the fight against animal cruelty. Iams Home 4 the Holidays provides free How-To Guidelines booklets to participating shelters to help them get started planning their adoption campaign.
Groups who take part in Iams Home 4 the Holidays increase their adoption rates, lower euthanasia, and lower the number of returns, which goes a long way in preventing animal cruelty. Iams also provides each adoptive family with an adoption kit that includes food samples, coupons, and important tips on pet care, behavior, training, and nutrition.
For their work in the effort to end animal cruelty, Iams and the Helen Woodward Animal Center were awarded the Gold Halo Award for Best Environmental/Wildlife Campaign from the Cause Marketing Forum. The Gold Halo Award recognizes programs that provide resources for nonprofit partners, move consumers to act out of a desire to do good, and enrich lives.
